One of our favorite nonfiction picture books this year is Human Body Learning Lab by Dr. Betty Choi, published by Storey Publishing. It features a diverse cast and takes a deep dive into the different systems of the body, with intriguing facts at every turn. It also offers detailed experiments and models that families can make at home to bring concepts to life. Kids can test their reflexes, test their sense of taste, build an ear model to see how sound travels through the ear canal, and so much more. Dr. Betty Choi breaks down the complexities of the human body in ways that are accessible and understandable for young readers, and this is an EXCELLENT book is for curious kids and anyone looking to understand how we live and breathe. Human Body Learning Lab is one of our favorite books published this year and we can’t recommend it enough!
