triangle

Who can you play a trick on if not a friend?  A good friend, of course.  The cunning humor, copious amounts of wit, furtive glances and ironic revenge in Mac Barnett and Jon Klassen’s latest collaboration TRIANGLE will make readers laugh even the tenth time around.  Now excuse us as we crack open this book again and watch some scheming shapes sidle across its pages.

Also, we made some bookmarks inspired by our newest favorite shape.

little red riding hood

The classic story of Little Red Riding Hood, reimagined with brilliant paper cut engineering and a modern, crisp palette of red, black and white.  As its pages are turned, the paper cut scenes commingle with each other, creating depth in their visual storytelling.  A magical version of this fairy tale that will enchant its readers.

This version of Little Red Riding Hood by the Grimm Brothers was created by Clémentine Sourdais and published by Little Gestalten.  Check this Instagram post for a video of how the book works.

noisy night

There's something to be said to noisy neighbors who keep us up at night — "Go to sleep!"  For those who are eternally irked and baffled by all that racket on the floor above them and what it could be, Mac Barnett and Brian Biggs' new book Noisy Night offers comical, clamorous possibilities.  The consensus after reading this one—definitely not a sleeper. ;)

interview at tee and penguin

For a look at what our bookshelves really look like (and to read some thoughts on what we do to foster a love of reading and literacy at home), head over to an interview Tee and Penguin did with me on their blog.  Thanks for having me, Sarah and Taryn!

P.S. I’m starting a new series called #whataverysreading.  I’ll post a stack of what she’s been reading lately every couple of weeks or so and would love to hear what other chapter books and middle grade books everyone is into these days.
